Year 1 and 2 Trip to Blickling Hall...

Blickling fun!

We had a wonderful trip to Blickling Hall. We explored the grounds, went inside the house and played in the gardens. The sun shone and we really had a fabulous time. We think the photos tell the story...

Week 6...

Royal Family and Animal Families...

In Year 1 and 2 we have been learning lots of facts about the Queen. Did you know she owns two sloths that live in a zoo! She was given them as a present. Also did you know that the Queens favourite food is vegetable soup?! Neither did we...but when we found out we used the vegetables from our allotment to make some soup for her. (photos to follow...)

In the Reception class there is a real love for animals so we have been following that interest - doing all our learning through animals! We have been counting in 2's just like the Noah's Ark story from the Bible. We have been thinking about many different types of animals - touching on their habitats too! 

Next week we are excited about the Year 1 and 2 trip to Blickling Hall and the Reception children's first federation day, plus a maths cafe - then the half term holiday! 

Alzheimer's Memory Walk

Hickling House...

Today we went on a 'memory walk' to Hickling House - the elderly peoples home in the village. We talked about what dementia is  - how your memory isn't as good as it used to be and as you get older your brain doesn't work as well. 

We took balloons from the Alzheimer's Society on our walk and when we arrived at Hickling House we sang songs to the elderly people. We think they enjoyed our performance! Then a nice lady called Margaret played a memory game with us using giant playing cards. We finished off our time at Hickling House with some cake, biscuits and squash! 

When we left Margaret gave us some goody bags! We had a lovely time and promised to go back and sing some more songs to them soon.
